What’s The Food, NYC? (Latin Eats!)

Happy Wednesday, WTM family! Hope you had a great week and got to try some of the restaurants we previously wrote about. We love feedback. Feel free to read prior posts for more food ideas. We’ve talked about classic foods of New York City: bagels, pizza, and baconeggandcheeses (it’s one word around these parts), but we haven’t discussed Puerto Rican and Dominican cuisine.

El Nuevo Amanecer

New Yorkers love beef stew with yellow rice and beans as much as we love Pizza. Oh, but where do you go? You go right to El Nuevo Amanecer in the Lower East Side. This restaurant has been around for a long time and the food is amazing. If you enjoy Latin food, this is a good place to go. You can’t go wrong with anything you decide to order. Everyone in the neighborhood loves this place. Although it is a restaurant, it is a hang out for Lower East Side locals on the weekends. The Bachata will be loud and there will be large groups of friends drinking maragaritas.

Westville

Westville, a comfort food restaurant that uses high quality ingredients, is another favorite eatery in this city. My favorites are the salads, the salmon salad is one of the best items on the menu. Their BLT is popular and for good reason, it’s on a list or two for best BLT’s in the city. And just like the burger at burger joint mentioned last week, you will have to try it and judge for yourself. The decor is white and bright and some locations have outside seating, which is lovely for the warmer seasons.  Westville has many location around the city, visit their site to find a location nearest to you.

Cafè Bell

Sweets! Sweets! Sweets! Cafè Belle has some delightful sweets. The most popular and Instagram-able treat is the Rainbow Cookie Ice Cream sandwich, it also tastes really good. This authentic Italian bakery is charming and has all the Italian bakery favorites: biscuits, rainbow cookies, cannolis and even zeppole filled with custard or cannoli cream. If your mouth is not watering right now, you are insane. This bakery is three generations old so you know these pastries have got to be good. You also canNOT go wrong with a cup of coffee because coffee lovers love a delectable cup of Joe.
