What’s The Food: Doughnuts & Empanadas!
7th Ave Donuts and Diner
What’s the move, NYC! We hope you had a nice time during Memorial Weekend. I did a lot of eating, of course…Who doesn’t love a good diner? How about a doughnut shop and a diner in one? Then you have to take it on down to 7th Avenue Donuts, a diner that has freshly baked doughnuts right when you walk in. They make the most delicious, in-house doughnuts ever. You’re either there for the diner or the doughnuts and most of the time, both because you’ll probably leave with a doughnut after you’re done eating. These are some of the most flavorful doughnuts in the city. I’m talking glazed, frosted, apple crumb and way more awesome flavors, even eclairs. It’s not just about the doughnuts, 7th Avenue Donuts also comes through as a diner taste wise. You can go for a burger or breakfast, they’re open 24 hours.
Empanada Mama, another place with fun foods dealing with dough, is a Latin American chain restaurant that offers Latin comfort specializing in empanadas. Their carefully crafted ingredients fried into an empanada are simply the best. They have cool names like Reggaeton, Viagra and Brazil. The frozen mojitos and margaritas also hit the spot.
Rubirosa is an Italian hot spot in Little Italy. This place is packed most of the time so I would suggest making a reservation. This pizza and pasta eatery is one of the most popular in Little Italy and with good reason, just about everything is savory. Even during lunch time on weekdays, you still should make a reservation. So that should tell you a lot. Their chicken parmesan is some of the best I’ve ever had.
