What’s The Move Food: Mitchell’s Soul Food, Szechaun Delight & More!

It’s the fourth of July, What’s The Move family! You know what the means, parties and cookouts. So please, check out our calendar. Now let’s talk food!

Mitchell’s Soul Food

Let’s take it to Brooklyn, to Mitchell’s Soul Food. Mitchell’s is a restaurant with a homestyle kitchen and the older women are in the back cooking along with Mitchell, so you know you’re about to eat good. This place is usually busy on Sunday afternoons, otherwise it’s not a crowded place. The most popular items on the menu are the whiting, fried fish and the smothered chicken. If you order rice for a side dish, you can get smothered gravy on your rice, yum! Mitchell’s is simple in decor, you’re really there for the soul food.

Szechaun Delight

Szechuan Delight is one of the better Chinese food restaurants in Park Slope. The food here is so delicious. True New Yorkers still love our bullet proof window Chinese spots but we also like a good sit-down with some tasty garlic chicken. Szechaun is a busy place, most of the neighborhood loves to eat and order from here. And they make those chips you dip in the duck sauce in house while you wait. Who doesn’t love those?

Taqueria Tlaxcalli

Unfortunately, no sweets this week but this authentic Mexican gem in Parkchester will blow your mind. Taqueria Tlaxcalli is one of those mom and pop restaurants for sure. Although the inside is small and more intimate, there’s nothing small about the flavors packed into their steak burritos. Not to mention, freshly made tortilla chips and great food presentation! If you live nearby or find yourself in the area stop in and be sure to ask what the specials for the day are.
