#TheGrind – Uptown, Baby
Not trying to be biased or anything, but we’ve saved one of the best boroughs for last. Today on #TheGrind we’re covering the Uptown section of the Bronx specifically the Pelham Manor and Westchester Square areas and honorable mention: Money Earnin’ Mount Vernon.
Steam House is definitely a crowd pleaser for Uptown natives, well known for their jerk chicken quesadillas, wings, and great drinks. For those who work in the Mount Vernon area, the restaurant offers lunch specials from 11am-4pm with options such as curry chicken, rasta pasta, and fish and chips starting at just $6. They’re also available on UberEats for ordering on the go.

Next stop is Gabrielle’s in Pelham Manor and we have just one word for you: oxtail. Named after the owner’s daughter, Gabrielle’s is your one stop shop for Caribbean fusion cuisine offering lunch specials for $10, freshly made juices, breakfast, vegetarian options, and some of the best oxtail I’ve ever tried (sorry mom). Gabrielle’s is also available on UberEats, DoorDash, ChowNow and many other online vendors so check them out on your next lunch break.

There’s always a debate about which city has the best pizza and while there may be a few honorable mentions (looking at you Chicago) some of the best slices can be found right in the Bronx. Ljubo’s Pizza located in Westchester Square is a small mom and pop pizzeria that has been serving the Bronx community for years. Their huge slices start at just $3 and the size of the pizza alone will be enough to keep any food lover happy. They are also available for delivery from 10am-8:30pm.
